TREVISO. Giulio Olivi died in Verona. Born in Treviso, he was 92 years old. For decades he was a manager in the hospital both in Padua and Verona. She leaves four children: Andrea, former general manager of the Padua Fair at the time of the president Ferruccio Macola, Susanna, Pietro and Gian Giacomo. The funeral will be held next Wednesday, at 4 pm, in the church of San Nazzaro, in the Veronetta district, Porta Vescovo area.

Giulio Olivi was part of the large Trevigiana degli Olivi family, among which there were also the deputy Marcello, elected on the lists of the Christian Democrats in the 70s, and the brothers Pino and Luisa. The latter had married Gigi Carraro, from Padua.

He was one of the last survivors of the Olivi dynasty, one of the historic families of the Marca, which is still remembered even today by young people as one of the most famous and popular in the city. For example, Giuseppe Olivi was mayor of Treviso from 1847 to 1852. In other words, in a period in which the capital of the Marca was still part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire before in 1866 all of Veneto, after the Third War of Independence, was annexed to the Kingdom of Italy, born in 1861 and which already included all of the center-south except the capital.

Giuseppe Olivi, born in Treviso and died in Pieve di Soligo, was the one who incited the Treviso people to rebel in 1848, in the wake of what was also happening in Venice and Padua, against the Austrians, who, however, after some time , they also returned to rule over the whole Marca. Giuseppe Olivi is still remembered today on a plaque that was placed years ago in a corner of Ca ‘Sugana.

«From Treviso an avalanche of relatives and friends sent me their condolences», underlines Andrea Olivi, «I am convinced that dozens of Treviso people will arrive in Verona to attend the funeral. On the other hand, my father was a respectable person and has always kept the memory of our ancient family high, which has its roots in Treviso ».
