He died in his Palmanova at the age of 88. A very talented defender, he finished his career in the star-studded city where he ran a tavern for years
PALMANOVA. Odero Gon, a great Udinese player in the 1950s, died on Wednesday 2 June at the Palmanova hospital at the age of 88. He grew up in Palmanova and moved to Serie A with Udinese. He had a sports career studded with many injuries that prevented him from fully demonstrating his qualities as a valid defender.
He played with the bianconeri in the glorious Moretti stadium from 1954 to 1960 and from 1962 to 1963
He closed his adventure in football by returning to play in Palmanova where he then opened a tavern with his wife, the Tavernetta, which for many years became the reference point for all “amaranth” fans.
