Fatal illness, half an hour for the ambulance – breaking latest news

CAVA DE ‘TIRRENI. Ambulances are missing for first aid at the “Santa Maria Incoronata dell’Olmo” hospital: the controversy over the shortcomings recorded at the Cavese presidium is ignited again in light of an episode that occurred yesterday and which highlighted the need for an incisive strengthening of in the face of emergency interventions. To highlight these shortcomings was a tragic accident that saw a 59-year-old from Santa Lucia as the protagonist who, yesterday morning, was struck by a fulminant heart attack. The man was jogging along via Vitale when suddenly he collapsed to the ground in an illness. The intervention of passers-by who tried to rescue the man was useless and also the health workers, who arrived about half an hour after the incident with an ambulance from Agri, could not help but ascertain his death. But precisely the need to contact the Angri operators due to the unavailability of an ambulance in the city area inevitably triggered the controversy. Controversies that have unleashed the anger of family members for the exploitation: the man was killed by a lightning heart attack and nothing could be done.
For the occasion, however, the “Santa Maria Incoronata dell’Olmo” ends up in the crosshairs of politicians and committees. The hospital is equipped with only one rescue vehicle, at that time engaged in another intervention, while the other ambulances available to the health associations were busy guarding the vaccination centers. A circumstance, therefore, which forced the 118 operators, contacted by telephone by those who had witnessed the illness of the 59-year-old Cavese, to redirect the emergency call to the address of the nearest emergency services available at that time. And the council group “The Brotherhood”, led by the former Franciscan friar Luigi Petrone, pointed the finger at the shortcomings highlighted several times in the “Santa Maria Incoronata dell’Olmo” hospital in Cavese and in the organization of emergency-urgency.
“A dramatic story, a sudden death”, commented Petrone and his followers. “And now, after the tragedy, the city is wondering why the rescue was not managed by the“ Santa Maria Incoronata dell’Olmo ”hospital. Apparently at the Cavese hospital there was not, at that precise moment, not even a suitable ambulance available for emergency intervention. Something of unprecedented gravity. Is it possible that in Cava de ‘Tirreni one can die like this? Is it possible to leave a city of 50,000 inhabitants without a suitable health facility? ».
To further increase the regret for the incident and the discontent for the problems that continue to arise at the Cavese presidium, was also the confirmation that the announced upgrading and restructuring works of the hospital will have to wait for the end of the health emergency when instead it was expected that they would start shortly, considering that the diabetes center was also being set up in the covered market in via papa Giovanni XXIII.
Faced with these prospects, the members of the “Piccolo Antonio Civetta” Committee to protect the hospital also arise and have announced that they are organizing a massive protest demonstration. “You don’t just die of Covid – he declared Paolo Civetta, chairman of the citizen committee – and emergencies must be dealt with with adequate supervision. Politicians continue to respond with mere reassurances without any guarantee on the future of our hospital. We add shortcomings on shortcomings and the technical table set up by the Health Council Commission, which was supposed to deal with the problems of our hospital, was no longer heard. More smoke in the eyes. We are preparing to take to the streets en masse to protest and claim the sacrosanct right to health. Next week we will announce the date of the event ».
