Ukrainian community and Caritas, hot meals for newcomers
(ANSA) – GENOA, MARCH 15 – 711 people have been welcomed to date by the Ukrainian community of Genoa supported by the diocesan Caritas. Among the refugees (to date a total of 262 families arrived via the network activated by the Ukrainian community) there are 332 children. 17 trucks loaded with aid left from Genoa, Savona and Chiavari, a dozen minivans for a total of about 350 tons of humanitarian aid sent to collection points on the border between Poland and Ukraine. The data was provided by Father Vitalij Tarasenko, parish priest of the Ukrainian Catholic community of the Byzantine rite in Genoa who announced the opening of the aid distribution service for new arrivals from the war zone. Caritas volunteers with volunteers from the Ukrainian community will help newcomers to receive aid from the Genoese. “There is always a hot meal in Santo Stefano – said Father Vitalij – both for lunch and dinner.
