UDINE. The race to secure schools through vaccination risks becoming a run-up in a region where the rate of distrust towards anti-Covid prophylaxis remains among the highest in Italy.
The younger age groups, however, are sending out encouraging signs – especially given the fact that the campaign has recently opened for them – with half of those in the 12-19 age group having already gotten their first dose. of drug and more or less a quarter with the completed vaccination course.
In addition, the adhesions and administrations of 20-year-olds are very good, touching, in both cases, three quarters of the audience of residents.
People of school age
The current regulations decided by the European Ema and the Italian Aifa authorize anti-Covid immunizations only for those who are at least 12 years old.
Taking this factor into consideration, therefore, the vaccinables in school age (ie up to 19 years) in Friuli Venezia Giulia are a total of 84,000 835. More difficulties, on the other hand, are recorded among those in the 12-15 year range in which reservations are firm at 43.8%, the first doses at 35.9% and the completion of the vaccination cycle does not exceed the figure of 11, 1% of those entitled.
The boom of the twenties
They are not of purely school age, but university years, and a considerable portion of them attend the universities of Udine and Trieste, instead, the 20-year-olds who are registering excellent rates of adherence to the national campaign.
In fact, 109,000 577 boys and girls between 20 and 29 years old reside in the region and of these not only 73.7% of them have booked, but 71.1% have obtained the first dose and over half – 52.8% to be exact – even the recall.
Important numbers because they certify that 20-year-olds are one of the most convinced age groups of the need to protect themselves from Covid if we think that the 73.7% membership rate is higher than that recorded among 30, 40 and 50 year olds and becomes less than only that of those who are over 60 years old, but for whom the possibility of booking their appointment has materialized many months before.
The real problem, in any case, is that the vaccination campaign in the region seems to have entered a phase of near-stalemate if we reflect, for example, on the fact that in the period between 7 and 22 August, therefore in the two central weeks of month, fewer than 20 thousand new adhesions to the campaign have accumulated (currently the figure is around 66% of the general population and 73% of the over 12s) with Friuli Venezia Giulia which always remains anchored to the last places at national level in terms of average vaccination rate compared to the resident population.
Free vaccinations
Finally, it is worth remembering how for a week now Friuli Venezia Giulia has also guaranteed a preferential lane – as requested by Commissioner Franceso Paolo Figliuolo to the Regions – for vaccinations of those who appear to be of school age.

The AsFo, on the other hand, has planned since last week an additional offer of places dedicated to young people between 12 and 18 years in all company vaccination centers and will guarantee direct access to children falling within that range who will show up between 8.30 and 8.45 am, every day until Saturday, at the Fiera in Pordenone. –
