On Wednesday, June 7, the final match of the Conference League draw between the Italian “Fiorentina” and the English “West Ham” took place at the “Eden Park” stadium in the capital of the Czech Republic, Prague. We will remind, earlier in the confrontation between the Spanish “Seville” and the Italian “Roma”, the winner of another European cup – the Europa League – was determined.

Both finalists failed to perform in the national championships after the end of the season, and the reported match was seen as a chance to rehabilitate in front of their fans and guarantee their participation in the group tournament of the next draw of the European Cup, ranked above the Conference League – the Europa League.
By the way, the fans of the rivals in the final were not bored before the match itself. As The Sun reports, several dozen Fiorentina ultras broke into the pub where West Ham fans were resting, started throwing fireworks, chairs, bottles, and struck with chains and metal rods. As a result of the incident, several Hammersmith fans had to seek medical help due to injuries caused by fireworks, as well as cuts and bruises.

“Fiorentina” is the most productive team in the current Conference League (on the way to the final, the “Violets” scored 36 goals), but the Florentines failed to stage a goal extravaganza in the final. What’s more, after a dry first half, it was West Ham who managed to open the scoring after the referee awarded a penalty for a handball by a defender in his own penalty area, and Benrahma fired clear under the crossbar from the 11-metre mark.
The Hammers could not lead for a long time, and after a few minutes the score was tied again after Bonaventura’s accurate shot from the penalty area. But the fate of the trophy was still decided in regular time – in the 90th minute, Bowen almost ran from the center of the field to the goal and realized the exit face to face with the goalkeeper, thereby making the “Hammers” the triumph of the European Cup tournament for the first time since 1965 .
It should be noted that “West Ham” rightfully became the owner of the trophy, because during the tournament they did not lose a single match, winning 14 (!) and drawing only once. And the Brazilian legionnaire of the Hammers, Emerson, became the first football player to win the Champions League, the Europa League (both European Cups with London Chelsea) and the Conference League during his career.
We will remind that another European Cup final will be held on June 10. In another Anglo-Italian duel in Istanbul, between “Manchester City” and “Inter”, the winner of the Champions League will be determined.
