The villagers were besieged by the flood on the roof for many days. The village had no water and electricity, and the villagers had no food or water. So far, they have not waited for rescue. On the morning of the 23rd, villagers in Gouxizhuang, Huixian County, Xinxiang City, said that the flood was still rising, and they began to save themselves. First they used two assault boats to move the elderly and children out.
On July 23, heavy rains continued to occur in Anyang, Hebi, Xinxiang, Jiaozuo and other places in Henan. Xinxiang City issued a red warning for rainstorms and a notice of suspension of classes and business. According to official statistics, as of 15:00 on the 22nd, the affected population in the north central part of Xinxiang City had increased to more than 770,000.
Can’t wait to rescue villagers to start self-help
Many villages in Hui County, Xinxiang City suffered flooding. On the morning of the 23rd, Ms. Zhang, a villager in Gouxizhuang, Huixian County, Xinxiang, told The Epoch Times that there are about 2,000 people in their village. They have been besieged by floods for 2 days and 2 nights. There is no water and electricity in the village. So far, no rescue team has been waiting.
Ms. Zhang said that the whole village was staying on the roof, waiting for rescue. Everyone hadn’t slept for two days and two nights. The main reason was that they were afraid and did not dare to sleep because the water was still rising. The water at home has risen to 1.50 meters, and the water outside is deeper.
“Many families have run out of food and have no water to drink. Everyone is hungry.” Ms. Zhang said, “Because I have been unable to wait for rescue workers, the village has started to help myself this morning.” The civilian rescue team just used two assault boats to help. Transferred part of the old, weak, sick, and disabled pregnant women.
Ms. Zhang emphasized, “The information that we spread to the outside world, then, the civilian rescue team here came over, not the people organized by the city government to participate in the rescue. It was the information we released on the platform, and the volunteers came over.”
The flood discharge bridge of four reservoirs in Huixian County was washed down
Regarding the cause of the flood, Ms. Zhang believes that the main cause is the discharge of the reservoirs. The four nearby reservoirs are all releasing floods, and they are the main flood discharge areas. Because they did not notify the flood release, they did not evacuate in advance. On the afternoon of the 21st, the flood suddenly rushed into the village, and everyone hurriedly moved to a higher place, basically on the roof of their own house.
The “Daily Economic News” confirmed on the 22nd that there are four medium-sized reservoirs in Huixian County that have discharged floods. The urban area has deep water accumulation, bridges have been collapsed by the current, and most areas are in a state of power outage.
Ms. Zhang said that the water is still rising and only a few dozen people have been rescued. All of them are hungry. If the government does not send a rescue team, it hopes to send some food and water to the village.
Villagers besieged by floods in many villages post a post for help
On the afternoon of the 23rd, villagers in Xiaozhuzhuang Village, Muye District, Xinxiang City also sent out a message for help, saying that the whole village had not been evacuated! Mr. Wang from Nanxiaoying Village, Zancheng Township, Huixian County, Xinxiang told The Epoch Times reporter that his village had been besieged by floods for 2 days and 2 nights. The water in the village was 2 meters deep, and many people were trapped on the roof waiting for rescue. Many people can no longer be contacted due to water and power cuts and network cuts.
Mr. Wang said that the rescue team came today, and now more than 100 people have been evacuated from the village. However, there is an urgent need for drinking water and food, and there is a serious shortage of rescue personnel.
A Twitter netizen posted a video saying: “For the rescue team from outside Henan, please go directly to several villages around Yuhe Town, Huixian County. The disaster is serious. The water level in Dongxiyangou and Mujiaying has risen rapidly, and several villages are surrounded by flood discharge areas. , The villagers have nowhere to evacuate, and water and electricity have been cut off to request rescue. Someone is trapped in the water.”
According to the mainland’s Central Meteorological Observatory, the precipitation in Huixian County reached 343.6mm from 21:00 on July 21 to 20:00 on July 22, ranking first in the country.
