The Treviso municipality thus becomes the fourth certified locality in the province and brings the number of “orange” municipalities in Veneto to 12.
FOLLINA. The Orange Flag, the prestigious award of Touring Club Italiano for small excellent Italian villages, it is assigned to Follina. Small village in the Alta Marca Trevigiana, it develops around the splendid Cistercian abbey dedicated to Santa Maria, still intact in its splendor, with valuable works, a splendid cloister, the bell tower and the abbot’s cloister.
It becomes the fourth Treviso municipality to be included in the Orange Flag list. With Follina there are indeed Cison di Valmarino, Asolo e Portobuffolè. The monastery is at the center of the cultural life of Follina, especially as regards music: during the year the abbey also hosts concerts of international level. The Municipality is also known for the traditional art of wool and silk processing and is within the territory of the Prosecco hills (Unesco heritage) so it is inevitable to visit it while sipping a good glass of Prosecco DOCG Superiore.
The town received the Orange Flag “in second instance”: after having presented a previous candidacy in the past, it received timely suggestions from the Italian Touring Club and followed them by working intensely, thus raising the level of quality of the local offer and being able to boast today of the brand.
The Orange Flags they are places where the quality of hospitality, environmental sustainability, the protection of the artistic and cultural heritage come together to give an authentic travel experience. Small centers that welcome travelers thanks to hospitable communities that, with commitment and enthusiasm, keep traditions alive, protect local heritage and animate the territories through the organization of events and demonstrations. The Orange Flags are now 267 and represent 8% of the over 3,200 applications analyzed. The Orange Flag brings real and tangible benefits (+ 45% arrivals and + 83% of accommodation facilities on average, from the year of assignment) and supports a real “virtuous circle”: the data collected return an extremely positive picture, in many cases in contrast with the rest of the country.
