The Japanese authorities ordered the evacuation of more than 205,000 people from Shizuoka Prefecture, for fear of landslides due to the heavy rains in the region. Among those required to be evacuated are 203,000 people in the city of Hamamatsu, and more than 2,300 people reside in the city of Kusai.

The authorities raised the alert status in the aforementioned cities to the third level out of five.

Since last Friday, Japan has been hit by a tropical storm that killed at least three people, injured more than 35 others, and damaged about 990 homes.
