TARCENTO. Mourning in the Carabinieri Corps of the Compagnia di Cividale for the disappearance of Franco Garompolo, appointed operative in the Tarcento station. Garompolo died on the morning of Thursday 19 May, at the age of 51, in the hospice of the Udine hospital where he had been hospitalized since last Saturday.
In the summer of 2020 the discovery of the disease against which he fought to the last. He was originally from Udine and had developed a passion for the Carabinieri since he was a child, so much so that at 17 he had started the course to enter the Arma. Later he had served in Vittorio Veneto, Cividale, in Udine and in recent years he had arrived at the station of Tarcento, a town where he had come to live with his family.
The disappearance of Garampolo left a great void in the Compagnia di Cividale, to which the Tarcento station refers: «Franco Garompolo – declared the commander of the Company, captain Rossella Pozzebon – was an all-round carabiniere, to the core. Since I settled in the Company 4 years ago, he was one of the first I met: he never pulled back and remained in his uniform until the end. His disappearance is a grave loss for the whole Company ».
Those who knew him remember a man who was very attached above all to his family and to the weapon: these were the commitments to which Garompolo had dedicated his entire life. At the same time, he was a sunny person, who loved his partner and had many interests, from motorcycles to the guitar and was skilled in many things, always available to his friends: “Many of his colleagues write to me – said his wife Sonia – for express their closeness to me: I replied to them that to remember him in the best way they are proud of the uniform they wear as was Franco, a man who knew how to give love to everyone unconditionally ».
Franco Garompolo’s family thanks the health workers of the hospice, oncology, medicine, surgery and emergency room of Udine, the Carabinieri and the parish of Remanzacco for their proximity. Garompolo leaves his wife Sonia, children Dennis and Daniel and his sister Rosalba. The funeral will be celebrated on Saturday 21 May, at 3 pm, in the cathedral of Tarcento.
