PORDENONE. The Fire Brigade of the right Tagliamento, assisted by the Speleo Alpino Fluviale (Saf) team of Pordenone, Udine and Trieste and by the TAS operators, specialized in topography applied to rescue, were engaged in the search for a hiker missing from Saturday afternoon, on slopes of Monte Fara between Andreis and Montereale-Valcellina.
The missing person, who lost track while descending from the summit along path 983, had asked for help via the Nue-112, giving approximate indications of his position.
The teams started their primary research activity on Saturday evening, also with the support of photoelectrics. The first attempts were unsuccessful and it was decided to resume research at the first light of dawn.
On the morning of Sunday, September 12, the fire brigade teams together with the volunteers of the mountain rescue, assisted by the Civil Protection helicopter, were brought to altitude with numerous rotations.
In the meantime, other fire brigade teams have beaten the forest roads of the area with off-road vehicles and in one of these, at 8.10 am, the missing person was found near Malga Fara, cold but in good condition, which he had reached independently by recovering walking with the first light of day. 20 firefighters were involved in the intervention with 8 vehicles. On the spot also the Carabinieri of Montereale Valcellina.
