The general director of Ulss Dolomiti, Maria Grazia Carraro raises the alarm: “100% of those hospitalized in intensive care and 60% in non-critical areas are not vaccinated”
BELLUNO. Never had so many new positives as in this last period. Word of the general manager Maria Grazia Carraro. The fourth epidemic wave exploded in the province of Belluno and today, Tuesday 11 January, the company wanted to take stock of the situation. In the province, there are therefore 5,280 positives, of which 672 registered in the last 24 hours.
The workload that is affecting the laboratory is important as it has to process hundreds of swabs per day. Buffers that could decrease with the entry into force of the new rules for isolation and quarantine especially for those who also have the dose booster.
But the important fact is the difference in reaction to the virus between those who are vaccinated and those who are not. Currently, in fact, all five patients admitted to intensive care and 60% of patients in the non-critical area are not vaccinated. Also interesting is the age difference between the hospitalized: the vaccinated inpatients have an average of 76.2 years, which drops to 69.3 years for the non-immunized. “The virus affects non-immunized people five times more than those who have completed primary school,” said the dg, stressing that the number of current patients, despite the large number of infected, is far lower than in previous years. “And this is a positive fact that allows us not to go to reduce outpatient and hospital activities, as was the case last year”, declared Carraro.
Finally, on the vaccine front, 32,500 Belluno citizens are still missing, equal to 16.9% of the eligible population. The campaign in pediatric age is proceeding: a dose of Pfizer is administered to 2,065 children aged 5 to 11 (equal to 19% of the total).
