During the Algerian War (1954-1962) French soldiers repeatedly raped thousands of Algerian women who fought in the resistance. Yet in France the issue is often considered taboo and still arouses heated debates when the press deals with it.

In the Le Monde video made with La Revue Dessinée, former independence fighter Louisette Ighilahriz, 86, recounted the torture he suffered after decades of silence.
