From Great Britain to the USA: here are the new rules for traveling

by admin

International tourism has not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels, but many countries, also in light of the anti-Covid-19 vaccination campaigns, have begun to cancel or make travel restrictions less stringent, from the US to Great Britain.

America reopens to vaccinated travelers since November

The latest news comes from the United States. From early November, fully vaccinated international travelers, including Europeans and Brits, will be able to enter the States. The White House decision puts an end to an 18-month ban, the so-called “travel ban” started with Donald Trump at the beginning of the pandemic and subsequently continued with the Biden administration. The American turning point affects 33 countries in all – in addition to the Schengen area and Great Britain there are Ireland, China, Iran, Brazil, South Africa and India.

Under the new rules, those wishing to enter the US will have to present the complete vaccination certificate and a negative test for Covid performed in the 72 hours before the flight before embarking. It is not yet clear which vaccines will be allowed as only three have been approved in the United States – Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson – and not AstraZeneca or Sinovac, which are widely used in Europe and China. It will be the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to clarify in the coming days: according to rumors reported by some media, it is likely that AstraZeneca will be admitted while the question remains pending on the Chinese vaccine or the Russian Sputnik.

No more tests for vaccinated people traveling to Great Britain

The wave of easing of anti Covid restrictions in the United Kingdom also extends to travel from abroad. The latest news also concerns Italy: with the announcement of the end, from 4 October next, of the obligation to have a negative anti-Covid test on departure for all those who will arrive or return to England with the proven certification of a double vaccination by territories that – like Italy – are included in the so-called “amber list” of intermediate alert (with Italy, the US and the bulk of the EU)

Quarantine lifted for those vaccinated by the EU and the US

The decision was adopted by the Tory government of Boris Johnson which from August 2 revoked the precautionary quarantine for all those who arrive on the island from overseas or from continental Europe. Provided they are doubly vaccinated in the countries of origin. On the other hand, the need remains in force for travelers to book a single test to be done two days after arrival on the island: a test which, however, from about mid-October, must no longer be of the PCR type, but Ltf, i.e. a “Lateral flow” decidedly less expensive. For those who are not fully vaccinated, there remains the obligation of quarantine for 10 days and a double swab on arrival.
