KLAGENFURT. On Monday, Austria plunges into a total lockdown, for vaccinated and unvaccinated, as it had already done in the first seasons of the Covid emergency. The attempt to parry the fourth wave, by isolating only the unvaccinated at home, was immediately insufficient. The explosion of new infections, the weekly incidence jumped to peaks never seen before and above all the hospitals and intensive care units close to collapse led the government to decide to extend the lockdown to everyone, also announcing an unprecedented measure, which however it will be applied only from 1 February: the vaccination obligation extended to the entire population.
