With the restart of the wedding sector on June 15, the Technical Scientific Committee will soon decide on the new protocols for the sector, also in light of the entry into force of the mandatory ‘green pass’ for access to the venue. Without prejudice to the use of masks and the distance between people and tables, the most likely hypothesis will be not to limit the number of guests in outdoor receptions and to establish a maximum quota only for indoor venues. The document of the organizations in the sector which, among other things, propose the establishment of a ‘covid manager’ for every 50 guests, the exemption from the mask when there is distancing and new service methods, with single-portion buffet.
The role of the Covid manager
In particular, the Covid manager will be responsible for compliance with the anti-virus regulations at the resumption of events and ceremonies. A relatively new figure already present in companies or film productions, an ‘ad hoc’ contact person to verify compliance with documents, authorizations and regulations regarding the coronavirus. From weddings to congresses, each event will have its own contact person who will be obliged to enforce sector protocols. There are many organizers who run ‘for cover’ trying to identify this new professional figure, whose role is also being debated in the CTS.

Aspects to be clarified
Not everything, however, is still clear for wedding planners and organizers who are asking for greater transparency than the norm. In fact, they would be the ones most involved in the new rules. What seems certain at the moment is that the Covid manager operates on specific delegation from the “customers” and the various suppliers and professionals employed in the organization and conduct of the event, issuing binding directives for the safe conduct of the marriage .
The debut in the school environment
The role of the Covid referent made its debut with the reopening of the schools which, already this year, had the obligation to identify a manager who would interface with the Prevention Department to inform about any cases or outbreaks in the institute . But the role of the “Covid manager”, also present in health care facilities, soon spread to the main Italian companies, albeit on a voluntary basis.
Lombardy and Veneto forerunners
In particular, Lombardy and Veneto, two of the regions most affected by the pandemic, led the way in this regard. As with schools, also in this case the person in charge acts as an interface with the health authorities, as well as verifying compliance with all anti-Covid regulations. Meanwhile, in view of the progressive reopening of all sectors, new professional courses for the training of Covid managers are proliferating on the web, complete with a study program and teaching material.
