The resident woman explained to the volunteer: “You have already come, and we have reasonable and legitimate justifications (not going), which are all within reasonable and legal limits.”

Then, two people in protective suits knocked on the door again, saying they were public security personnel.

One of them held an official document and read aloud: “Only on suspicion of refusing to implement the ’emergency’ decision, I am summoning you to go to Jiuting Town, Songjiang District, Shanghai, before 12:00 on April 4, 2022…”

After the reading, the public security officer said, “We will take it away according to the law.” Immediately, several police officers started to arrest people.

The woman was taken away in a white police car. She protested all the way, shouting, “What law have I broken? What law have I broken?”

According to Xinhuanet, the official media of the Communist Party of China, on April 4, nearly 25 million people in Shanghai received nucleic acid tests, and more than 38,000 people from 15 provinces in mainland China were dispatched to Shanghai to support the fight against the epidemic. Zhang Li said that she did not do nucleic acid testing because the test was too opaque and she was afraid of being framed.

She said: “This is a political matter. In case of retaliation and giving you a positive result, you might as well insist on not doing the test. When they enter your ID card information and give you a positive result, you will not be able to tell how hard you are. Moreover, (Deputy Premier of the Communist Party of China) Sun Chunlan said that anyone who is positive will be taken away, and home isolation will not be given to you.”

Zhang Li said that this is the first time that Shanghai has done nucleic acid for all staff. On April 5, police knocked on her door.
