[Epoch Times, June 23, 2021](Reported by Epoch Times reporters Gu Xiaohua and Ling Yun) Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province has been locked down for several weeks due to the CCP virus epidemic, and a large number of people are facing unemployment. On the evening of June 21, large-scale group protests broke out in multiple local districts at the same time. Thousands of citizens gathered at the bottom of the Xihuan Bridge and other intersections, shouting in unison, demanding the release of the seal. The authorities sent hundreds of special police officers to the scene, and the two sides clashed.

Dissatisfaction caused by the lack of government information

Wang An (pseudonym), a citizen of Dongting Community, Dali Town, Nanhai District, told reporters that there were no confirmed cases in his community and no close contacts, but the government did not say anything and continued to extend the lockdown date.

“We have no cases here, no confirmed diagnosis, and no close contact, but we have been banned for 14 days. We cooperated with them for 14 days, and they did not unblock the ban, and did not say whether to continue the ban. It is all gossip. , After sending the documents to the landlord, we knew that another three days had been added. We endured the three days, but we did not arrange a nucleic acid test in these three days. I don’t know the significance of these three days. I still don’t understand the three days. Sealed. I learned from the grapevine that it would be another few more days, so we couldn’t help it last night, and it all broke out.”

Wang An said that in these days of closure, they have never seen government documents or information released by government official accounts. They are all gossips. “They sent it to the landlord, but the landlord sent it to us. All of them don’t have a red head cover. chapter”.

Liu Song (pseudonym), a villager in Luo Village, Huangqi Community, also stated that they have been sealing it since (June) 4. The main problem is that the news is very unclear. “They (the government) originally told us that the seal could be unblocked on the 18th for 14 days, but there was no news on the 18th. It was not until the 20th that a post was posted at the door of the seal.’ The ban will continue from the 19th to the 20th. When will the ban be unblocked, we will wait for the notice. Then on the evening of the 21st, it was said that the ban could not be unblocked, but for any reason, no one made an announcement.”

Liu Song said that including today’s (22nd) nucleic acid test, even his landlord didn’t know about it. He only knew about the nucleic acid test when he went to Weibo. And I don’t know if it was the last nucleic acid test.

“The key is here, that is, he didn’t tell us when to unblock it. Anyway, it was added in three days and three days, and he didn’t tell us why it would continue to block. Because we are here according to the original document he issued, saying how many times If the member has a negative nucleic acid, it can be unblocked, but we are in line with it, but he continues to block us without giving us an explanation.”

Residents of 5 blocked communities protested at the same time

According to reports, on the evening of the 21st, residents of the five communities of Huangqi, Dongxiu, Qiyang, Dongting, and Yongya in Dali Town all protested. Among them, the protest at the bottom of the Xihuan Bridge was the most intense, gathering thousands of people.

Gao Fan (a pseudonym), a villager at the protest site at the bottom of the Xihuan Bridge in Huangqi Community, told reporters that the people gathered at the bottom of the Xihuan Bridge at around eight or nine o’clock, and there were about a thousand people.

“Because it has sealed off several places, Qiyang, Huangqi, and Dongting. There are people in these places, about one to two thousand people, and they ran to the bottom of the Xihuan Bridge to gather.”

Gao Fan said that the conflict started at around 10 o’clock, and the authorities dispatched hundreds of riot police officers with shields. “The masses here demanded to be unblocked, and those government officials were unclear about it. Slowly, (the people) became emotional, and the people on our side began to rush into those fences or something.”

Wang An said that he was past 11 o’clock (under the Xihuan Bridge), when there were almost a thousand people (the protesters).

“At that time, even the police from Guangzhou came over. At that time, there were a lot of special police cars and hundreds of policemen on the scene.” Wang An said that the opposite of their protest was also a closed community, and the residents on the opposite side were also making trouble. Some policemen Went to the opposite side (Luo Village).

Liu Song from Luocun was just across the road. He said that their protests were relatively calm, with more than 100 people, and followed the other side and shouted slogans. The protest at the bottom of the Xihuan Bridge was even more intense. Someone saw that the protective fence was knocked open. It was between one and two o’clock in the morning when it crashed.

Wang An said, “As soon as the police came up, they pointed at us with chaotic clubs and shields, but we didn’t have anything in our hands, but there were too many people behind. We pushed up, the door burst open, and we squeezed through. The police caught them. One, and then we yelled to let people go, let them go.”

“Someone was arrested and not injured,” Gao Fan said. Those who were arrested and beaten were ahead of them, and they were in a high mood. The scene left after two o’clock, but the problem was not solved. “Because it was too late, the crowd slowly dispersed and went home to sleep.”

Wang An said that the protest lasted until about three o’clock. At that time, there were one or two hundred people left. The police used their mobile phones to film the protesters and threatened to “catch if they didn’t leave.” They were all driven away.

Gao Fan introduced that after the people left, all the fences that were rushed out were closed again.

“Tens of thousands face unemployment”

Being locked at home for a long time and facing unemployment is a common concern of protesters.

Wang An said that there was no case in their place for more than 20 days, at least they had not seen a case from official sources, but they were blocked for more than 20 days. I can eat and buy groceries, but I cannot leave the community, do nothing, or work.

“There are hundreds of thousands of people here. I dare to tell you that tens of thousands of people are unemployed. All of them are doing business in Guangzhou, some are working, some are doing business in Guangzhou, and all the stalls have to be paid. The rent can’t be opened now, it’s all trapped here.”

Wang An introduced that he did the decoration work, and all the goods were ordered, and they were placed in Guangzhou. All the express delivery was signed for, but so far I don’t know where the express delivery is. I don’t know if the courier was taken away, or if the goods were all placed at the stall, and I don’t know anything.

“Someone in our group lost more than 100,000 yuan, and it was a part-time job, which is equivalent to a breach of contract. He was (engaged) taking pictures because he was also part-time, because he himself was equivalent to breaking the contract because he couldn’t shoot them on time.”

Liu Song said, “We have been blocked for so many days, with no income, no job, no one from the government to communicate with us, and no clear announcement to us. Many people are very anxious.”

Liu Song said that his current life is mainly dependent on savings, but some businesses will go bankrupt.

Liu Song also said, “In fact, we are not saying that we cannot accept closure, we can accept closure if we are in danger. After all, we can still find a job after we are out of work. But it (the authorities) has no reason now, as if it just treats us. It’s the same as a dog. It’s the same if you say it’s sealed, and then it won’t be unblocked if you say it doesn’t. There is absolutely no basis, so many people can’t accept it.

Unknown result

Wang An said that the government didn’t say anything that night. “The government’s explanation last night was that the results will be released after the nucleic acid today, and it will be unblocked tonight. But the nucleic acid was only started at noon today, and the result is impossible. Yesterday the government took the lead and said It will definitely be unblocked at this time, but if it can’t be unblocked tonight, there will be riots.

Liu Song also said, “If you still don’t unblock it tonight, those people will collapse even more. I don’t know if there might be more violent conflicts.”

The reporter called the Dali Township Government Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters as a community member. A female staff member said that she would have to wait for a notice about unblocking, because the nucleic acid test also takes time, and now she cannot have a clear reply.

This staff member said that even if unblocking is not completely unblocking, closed-loop management is also required: “The notice is that all nucleic acid tests in the above areas are negative, and closed-loop management is implemented. Compared with our current sealing and control method, closed-loop management can be said to be Unblock it as you understand it, (still to implement) strict closed-loop management.”

“It is possible to go to Guangzhou, but our bayonet is still staffed 24 hours a day, and personnel will enter and exit, take temperature measurements, scan codes, wear masks, and then check the nucleic acid test results. That’s it. If you go to Guangzhou, come back. It is necessary to provide a 24-hour nucleic acid test negative certificate.”
