And, at least for now – but the administration has already announced that this is a temporary solution – the scissoring is unloaded on personnel and social services. The starting point is the increase in energy costs, which causes bills to rise. A big problem for a public body that has a very large building stock. The bill for the surge in electricity and gas is 15 million euros in 2022 and the same amount in 2023. Everything is written in black and white in the change in the 2021/2023 financial balance that will be passed to the City Council on Monday for approval. To fill the gap, the document indicates a decrease of eleven million euros for personnel expenses next year, and ten the next. And also a lower forecast of spending on social services: five million for 2022 and five for 2023.
The councilor for the budget Gabriella Nardelli yesterday explained that it is only a formality. That is to say that in order to make ends meet the budget – which must be approved in a short time – it was decided to cut an immediate item and that will be absorbed elsewhere in the final budget. «It is a technical document, there is nothing political about it. It was necessary to make a rearrangement of all the expense items to ensure the operation of the institution “he explains. “Moreover, it is a consequence of the 2021/2023 budget, that is, of last year, and in the first months of 2022 we will replace it with a new one. Then we will act to strengthen the staff announced by the mayor and we will not make reductions in social services ».
Reassurances in this sense also came to the councilor for Welfare, Jacopo Rosatelli, who had asked for explanations. But the “minuses” are agitating city politics.
