Empoli, entrepreneur goes to house arrest, including tax evasion

(ANSA) – FLORENCE, AUGUST 20 – Seizure of 534 cars throughout Italy against the company of an entrepreneur active in Vinci and Capraia e Limite (Florence) accused by the financial police of fraudulent bankruptcy and tax evasion. For him, 55, originally from Sicily but resident in Empoli, house arrest was triggered because despite having already been banned by the court of Florence, for a year, from the beginning of 2021, from exercising business activities, according to the GdF he instead continued to operate in the sale of motor vehicles using nominees. Upon hearing the news, the Florence public prosecutor obtained from the court the aggravation of the measure and the application of house arrest with electronic bracelet and prohibition of communication with others. The measurement was carried out in the province of Trapani where he was on vacation with relatives for the summer. He is under investigation for tax evasion, concealment of accounting records and aggravated documentary and patrimonial fraudulent bankruptcy in relation to the management of two joint-stock companies, now bankrupt, for the trade of used cars. The seizure of the 534 cars of one of the two companies was triggered by the order of judge Cristian Soscia, delegated to the bankruptcy court because he did not deliver them to the curatorship.

The seizure of the vehicles is underway throughout the Italian territory and have already led to the discovery of the first cars to be delivered to the curatorship for the sale and refreshment of the Treasury. It appears that the 534 vehicles, of which 380 burdened by administrative detention, were resold but without formal transfer of ownership, only of possession, to people who often circulated without paying either insurance or road tax and without carrying out the revision. The GdF suspects the owners’ use in illegal activities, including criminal ones. Investigations continue. (HANDLE).
