The third edition of the Images Gibellina photography festival takes place from 30 July to 29 August, in the province of Trapani. “The festival is not just a review of images, but an urban laboratory that involves artists and the territory to give life to a temporary city-museum”, explain the organizers.

This year the program includes 31 exhibitions, all outdoors, large format photographic installations, meetings and workshops with photography professionals. The chosen theme is “multiplicity” and the artists involved have reflected on the changes in contemporary society and experimented with installations capable of stimulating interactions with the public, confronting the history of the city.

Bruce Gilden presents the series Italians composed of 22 portraits of Italians met on the streets of Rome, Milan and Palermo; Francesco Jodice in Class portraits he photographed the students of various elementary, middle and high schools throughout Italy, from 2005 to 2019.

The Riverboom collective – made up of photographers, directors and graphic designers – carried out the work Kisses from Gibellina to reflect on human relations during the pandemic, a series of portraits in pairs of Gibellinesi taken in the most iconic places in the city. While the non-profit organization Art of change 21, together with the Chinese photographer Wen Fang presents Maskbook, a participatory art project, born in 2015, and dedicated to the relationship between the human being and the environment.
