Government creates solar solutions in regions of violence and poverty

The National Government, through the Ministry of Mines and Energy, will implement Photovoltaic Solar Solutions and Efficient Energy Management (FENOGE) measures, to the communities most affected by violence and poverty in the country.

‘Con Energía’ is a program of the Fund for Non-Conventional Energies and Efficient Energy Management (FENOGE) with the support of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, which aims to improve the living conditions of the communities most affected by violence. and poverty in the country with the implementation of Photovoltaic Solar Solutions and Efficient Energy Management measures.

Through this implementation of comprehensive energy solutions, it seeks to reach more corners of Colombia, Educational Centers and Health Services in the Areas Most Affected by the Armed Conflict (ZOMAC), places where Development Programs with a Territorial Focus are currently deployed ( PDET) and Municipalities of Category 5 and 6, in which municipalities with levels of extreme poverty and Unsatisfied Basic Needs (UBN) are prioritized.

“We are going to invest more than 80 billion pesos between 2023 and 2024 to bring these solutions to the most vulnerable territories in the country. This will not only promote non-conventional sources of renewable energy and thus advance the energy transition, but that will lead to an improvement in the quality of life of the different communities that benefit from these institutions”, said Juan Camilo Vallejo, Executive Director of Fenoge.

With this program, more than 1,200 KWp will be installed during the first half of 2023 and close to 3,200 KWp during the year 2024, which will generate annual energy savings of more than 5 GWh and mitigate more than 700 tons of CO2 from of the year 2025, reaching about 350 buildings.

What will be implemented with this program in the territories?

– Installation of Photovoltaic Solar Solutions.

– Replacement of lighting systems.

– Replacement of refrigeration systems.

– Replacement of air conditioners.

– Adaptations of internal electrical networks of the replaced air conditioners.
