Governor of Meta denounced incursion of armed groups in rural areas of Puerto Rico – news

A family from Meta, made up of a widow and her three children, will be compensated with a new property in exchange for the one they had to abandon due to the pressure generated by the FARC-EP guerrilla being extinct in the inspection of La Julia, in Uribe. , according to a ruling issued by the First Civil Court Specialized in Land Restitution of Villavicencio.

In 2004, the woman and her husband (RIP) acquired a house lot of 441 square meters in which they built two bedrooms, a dining room and a kitchen, where they lived with their children. In addition, they set up a space for the operation of a hair salon and a grocery store, and they had plantain, cassava, lemon, avocado and chontaduro crops.

The tranquility for this family ended in 2006, when members of the National Army arrived at the hamlet to locate themselves right on a property adjacent to their home, and there, the uniformed men spent the night, cooked and washed their clothes. Given the imminent risk that this represented, the family members decided to move to a farm they owned and left the property alone.

In the middle of that year, the head of the household became seriously ill and was sent to Villavicencio and then to Bogotá. Unfortunately, months later his death occurred, so the family remained in the country’s capital until January 2007.

After the family members returned to La Julia, guerrillas from the FARC 40th Front informed them that they could not live in the area. The widow was able to sell the property, but she could not offer the house, so they had to leave it abandoned and move to another city to safeguard their lives. Years later, it was learned that the Community Action Board divided the property and sold it to a woman who was the head of the household.

César Santoyo, territorial director of the URT in Meta, explained that the entity brought this case to justice and, as a result of the support of the Unit, restitution was achieved through compensation. In this way, the family

beneficiary will be purchased a new property with similar characteristics in the location of her choice.

In addition to compensation, this family will have the right to the State’s institutional offer as a guarantee for its comprehensive reparation and to guarantee its sustainability. Likewise, the judge decreed the status of second occupant to an elderly woman head of the household who currently lives on the property and who will continue to reside there.
