Grasshoppers in Sardinia, the appeal of the parliamentarians: “Flamethrowers, baits, vehicles: only an army can defeat them”

CAGLIARI – If in 1946, in Sardinia, 100 thousand men, hundreds of vehicles, flame throwers and baits were used to fight against grasshoppers, today an army is needed to cope with the onslaught of millions of specimens that are devastating fields and pastures.

A project unit, similar to that established by the Region in 2014 for the eradication of African swine fever, inter-agency and joint forces: Agriculture, Environment, Health with the Forestry Corps and Forestas Agency.
