Green Pass, Minister Lamorgese meets the prefects: firmness and greater controls in public transport

The Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, met by videoconference with the prefects and the Quaestors of the regional capitals to give indications on the programming of services aimed at controlling the possession of the “green pass” after the entry into force of the decree law n.172 / 2021, which provides for new and more stringent measures to contain the spread of Covid-19. The meeting was attended, in the presence, by the Chief of Police-Director General of Public Security, Lamberto Giannini, the General Commander of the Carabinieri, Teo Luzi, and the Deputy Commander of the Guardia di Finanza, Giuseppe Vicanolo.

The indications that emerged during the meeting will now be incorporated into the territorial plans prepared by the prefects after consulting the provincial committees for public order and safety.

“In this still very delicate phase for public health, the police forces and local police will continue to give their all and act responsibly but also with the necessary firmness, carrying out tighter checks on green certification with particular attention to areas and at the times of greatest influx of people », said the head of the Interior Ministry. “I asked the prefects to involve all the interested parties, recommending them to intensify the dialogue with the representatives of the trade associations of the exhibitors also in order to develop a widespread awareness-raising effort for their members”, added the minister.

Under the new legislation, the prefects were asked to develop dedicated devices for checks on local public transport users in a shared manner with the service companies within the provincial committees for public order and safety.

In view of the new obligations on the “green pass”, which will start on 6 December, the minister has anticipated the calling of a new meeting with the prefects of the regional capitals for a further evaluation of the plans developed, with particular regard to public transport local.
