GTT hires Filt CGIL: “We need a tender for Ivrea”

by admin

Permanent contract, applications until April 7. Ambrosio (Filt): “The last driver entered the Eporediese in 2015”

IVREA. GTT returns to hiring with a full-time permanent contract: the call is available on the company website and expires on 7 April. Since this is a general selection, in which 300 candidates will participate, however, there is the risk that Ivrea and the Canavese will once again remain dry-mouthed as in 2019. “On that occasion – explains Giovanni Ambrosio, trade union representative of Filt Cgil -, of about fifteen selected drivers out of 50 admitted, two wanted to come to Ivrea. However, they were diverted to Turin. In the end, the company denied him the possibility of moving and ended up with one of the two quitting ». The last grafts in Canavese thus date back to the announcement of 2015, certainly more “mass” compared to the selection of 2019. On that occasion, only one driver was hired in Ivrea and three in Alto Canavese.

The company makes it known that only the only pre-established thing is the job, not the final destination which, as specified in the announcement, will be chosen by GTT according to the needs of the moment. Among other things, the company reserves the right to hire up to a maximum of 10% of the staff provided for with part-time weekend contracts.

«However, we must underline – explains Ambrosio – that the fact that GTT will return to hiring is positive and will allow many young people to join a structured company for an indefinite period. Of course, we need a selection dedicated to Ivrea and the Canavese. The latest, unfortunately, was made in 2007. We have to calculate that there are currently no applications for internal mobility for the Eporediese area. This is because ours is a particular job, which involves broken shifts. For six and a half hours of work, you risk being out for 12 and a half hours. If you do not live near the depot it is difficult for you to accept these conditions. It is simpler for the Alto Canavese, because it is closer to the first belt of Turin. But even that a boy from Leinì chooses to come to work in Ivrea is complicated ».

Since 2012, the staff of Ivrea drivers has dropped dramatically. From about 70 units, it has gone to 46, in addition to 12 from Pont, 18 from Rivarolo and one in Valchiusella. “Until a few years ago we had five – explains Ambrosio -, today four shifts have all been outsourced”. In the meantime, in the city, the races have begun to skip. «We have already remarked several times – concludes Ambrosio – that even if new vehicles arrive, which are also useful, there would not be sufficient drivers and they would be forced to remain in storage. So the company continues to outsource shifts and if it doesn’t maintain the current level, more and more races will be skipped. The truth is that young and fresh professionals are needed. Because a company that outsources is a company that folds in on itself, empties itself and loses control of the territory. Without calculating that the drivers of private companies, for the most part, do not have the same contractual conditions ». –
