Gulf Clan drug supplier pleads guilty

Edgar Cubillos-Burbano, 63, who operated several cocaine laboratories in his country and supplied the drugs to the Clan del Golfo criminal organization, pleaded guilty to conspiring to ship large quantities of cocaine to the US, reported the Department of Justice.

Cubillos-Burbano, alias ‘Don Julio’, faces in federal court in Tampa, on the west coast of Florida, a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The trafficker was arrested in Necoclí, Colombia, in 2021, and, pursuant to a provisional arrest warrant, was extradited to the United States in November 2023.
