Drama in the night in San Vendemiano: Margherita Lotti, from Orsago, was thrown over the guard rail on the overpass. She died instantly
SAN VENDEMIANO. She gets out of the broken-down car, which has run out of petrol. A drunk driver fails to see her and overwhelms her, crashing into the parked car. Drama in San Vendemiano: a thirty year old girl, Margherita Lotti, he lost his life in the night in a tragic car accident.
It happened around 2 am between 23 and 24 December. The girl was traveling from Conegliano towards San Fior and approached the car because it ran out of petrol on the overpass near the Prealpi hotel in San Vendemiano. She fired the four arrows, got out, called some friends to help her get some petrol with a can.

In those moments, however, another car arrived, at high speed, in the same direction of travel: the man driving a black Stelvio, which subsequently tested positive for the alcohol test, hit the young girl’s black C2. In the dramatic carom, the girl flew over the guard rail.
The place of the accident
Upon their arrival, rescuers found the 53-year-old man, his initials VL. Only after a few moments the picture of the drama became clear: the rescuers noticed a lifeless body just below the overpass, in a gully without water, that is that of the thirty-year-old Margherita Lotti, who died instantly. A tragic flight of about twenty meters.
The driver driving the Stelvio was subsequently subjected to an alcohol test which showed that he was drunk while driving with a BAC of 1.6. The man was arrested for road murder and released at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The carabinieri are now investigating the fact.
«A news that upsets us, hits a family of our territory, known and well-liked – only the words of the mayor of Orsago, Fabio Collot – the whole town is shocked. I have a daughter who is almost the same age, I dare not imagine the drama that Margherita’s parents and sister are experiencing in this period which should instead be one of celebration and serenity. I’m speechless, an absurd drama also for the dynamics ».

The mayor could decree a day of city mourning on the occasion of the young woman’s funeral.
