He holds the flashlight in his mouth to steal in a bar: discovered thanks to DNA

by admin

A man from Udine sentenced to one year and four months. He had bet on Lestans’ Smile slot machines

SEQUALS. That flashlight forgotten in Lestans more than five years ago cost him a conviction for theft. To frame him, the traces of saliva left on a small flashlight used during a theft at the bar Al Sorriso di Lestans. On that occasion he took away a change machine and the money contained in some slot machines: a 7,500 euro hit, with a “stain”. That forgotten torch, which led to the trial of Dario Levacovich, 40, born in Rome and living in Udine.

The split at the “Al Sorriso” bar in Lestans dates back to 24 November 2015. According to the reconstruction of the Prosecutor’s Office, after having damaged the lock, Levacovich broke into the bar stealing a coin counter and some cash.

At the reopening of the bar, the owners of the restaurant discovered that they had been robbed and immediately called the carabinieri. What made the difference in the investigation into the theft was the meticulous inspection of the mobile radio rate of Spilimbergo.

The carabinieri, in fact, found a pile that did not belong to the managers of the restaurant. They immediately speculated that the thieves might have used it in the course of the theft. The swabs were thus carefully collected, in search of any biological traces and the findings were sent to specialized laboratories for analysis.

The investigative efforts of the Spilimbergo weapon have been rewarded, giving a face to the author of the theft: that of the young man from Udine. The military believe the 40-year-old raised the flashlight with his mouth to illuminate the area without arousing suspicion in order to keep his hands free to work. The DNA found on the small torch corresponds to that of the 40-year-old, defended by the lawyer Pier Aurelio Cicuttini.
