The civil case against Ca ‘Sugana and command begins. The agent’s lawyers: “Unjustly pilloried, here’s the evidence”
TREVISO. At the beginning of 2020 he was identified as the “crow”, the author of a series of anonymous letters, including a rather detailed one, delivered to the mass media, law enforcement agencies and institutions, in which the alleged beating of a foreigner, by four colleagues, in the offices of the command in via Castello d’Amore.

For this reason, at the end of an internal investigation, the commander Andrea Gallo asked the manager of the staff of the Municipality to transfer the alleged “crow” to another office “due to environmental incompatibility”. The transfer did not take place due to the immediate intervention of the lawyers, but in the meantime the rumors inside the offices in via Castello d’Amore had spread like wildfire and he, a forty-year-old agent from Villorba, highly decorated, with operational assignments of the judicial police, for over 10 years in service in Treviso, was now branded as the crow, so much so that due to the stress he suffered, he went into illness first and then to ask for and obtain the transfer to another local police command in the province of Venice.
Damages for 80 thousand euros
Now, due to the stress suffered by an accusation, according to him unjust and infamous (also because other anonymous letters arrived at the command, even after his transfer), the agent goes to counterattack and a grain is looming for the command of via Castello d’Amore and for the Municipality. A few days ago, the agent’s lawyers, lawyers Lorenzo Zanella and Carlo Errico, sent a warning to Ca ‘Sugana asking for substantial compensation for damages. Almost 80,000 euros between damages from temporary disability, biological, moral and medical consultancy costs. The letter of formal notice is the first step towards a civil case in court in Treviso (unless the Municipality decides to compensate the agent immediately).
Cumbersome and summary investigations
But on the basis of what elements do the lawyers contest the accusation of the command that earned the transferred agent the mark of “crow”? The internal investigations led to accuse the agent because, essentially, the portable modem from which an e-mail from the crow was sent, hooked the cell of Villorba, the town where the suspect lived. The point is, the lawyers say, that the e-mail having started from a portable modem (among other things that disappeared from the command of via Castello d’Amore three years ago) could have been very well sent by someone who had gone by car up to Villorba perhaps precisely with the intent to frame that agent who stood out for his spirit of initiative and praise.
Moreover, they wonder, why throw the cross on him who is not the only policeman of the command residing in the area covered by the cell through which an offending email passed? A summary and cumbersome investigation that would not have checked whether the cell was hooked up “in transit” and therefore if it had hooked up other cells before and after the event and the lack of concrete verification of the presence of the agent at his own home on the dates indicated. But then, some allegations, in the anonymous letters in question, would have targeted the same agent accused of “playing drug cop” and a colleague who was a great friend of his.
An atmosphere of resentment
In this way, the lawyers argue that having hypothesized a precautionary transfer measure, it is the administration itself that “pulled the cross on” the agent, creating a climate of resentment and suspicion towards him, rather than protecting him until they were the appropriate investigations were carried out to protect the professional image of the agent. This caused damage to the image, but also to the health of the agent, who had to undergo severe stress, also ascertained by a medical-legal consultation. Is the Villorba agent really the crow of the command in via Castello d’Amore or a highly decorated agent who has been sacrificed on the altar of the most classic of the “scapegoats”? The last word could soon pass to a judge.
