Healthcare, Spi Cgil: per capita expenditure in the Aosta Valley is among the highest

by admin

Despite the higher figure than the national average, for the union of pensioners CGIL the Aosta Valley health system suffers many problems

Valle d’Aosta is among the Italian regions with the highest per capita expenditure for health services, “but the public health system is unable to offer immediate answers to its citizens”. Thus Domenico Falcomatà of the Spi Gcil Valle d’Aosta about a study presented at a press conference on the socio-health system of the Valle d’Aosta.

According to the Ires survey, Valle d’Aosta sustains a per capita expenditure of around 2,000 euros compared to a national average of 1,875 euros. Our region also holds the primacy of the expenditure of direct participation by citizens in the costs of drugs and services, equal to 90 euros. On the other hand, the Aosta Valley health system, the report highlights, suffers from various critical issues that the health emergency has accentuated, starting with the high rate of hospitalization due to the scarcity of services spread throughout the territory.

The solutions to these difficulties should be identified by politics, however the union of pensioners of CGIL VdA complains about the absence of concrete answers. The finger is pointed at the three-year Defr, which will probably be extended until 2024, “full of good intentions, but not of concrete actions in the short and long term in terms of objectives, resources to be assigned and implementation times”.

The Spi CGIL has highlighted several shortcomings: Valle d’Aosta is among the last Italian regions for its ability to take care of disabled and non self-sufficient elderly, suffers from the lack of adequate medical personnel and is not very attentive to the protection of mental health and the contrast of addictions, first of all those from alcohol.

The IRES investigation then focused on the hospital issue. “The construction of a new hospital was indicated as preferable by most of the privileged witnesses we interviewed,” explained the director of Ires Cgil of Piedmont, Francesco Montemurro. “Placing it outside the city would improve the quality of taking charge of long-term care, thanks to the possibility of welcoming patients in larger spaces surrounded by greenery”.
