The body of the baby girl’s mother was not found until Thursday. Rescuers told the media that when they found her body, her posture was stiff, as if she was holding something.
A rescuer named Mr. Yang told the media: “She lifted the child at the most urgent moment so that the baby girl could survive.”

Mr. Zhao said that because the main passage of this remote village was destroyed by floods, rescue work has been difficult. Many houses were destroyed by floods and rain, and the villagers were helpless. “There are still many elderly and children in Wangzongdian, and their ability to save themselves is very limited.” Mr. Zhao said.
