According to customs statistics, the total import and export value of Hubei Province in the first half of 2022 was 290.91 billion yuan, the best level in history for the same period, with a year-on-year increase of 18.4%. Among them, exports were 193.66 billion yuan, an increase of 27.9%; imports were 97.25 billion yuan, an increase of 3.2%.

Yang Liangyong, deputy director of Wuhan Customs and member of the party committee, introduced that on the basis of maintaining a high base of double-digit growth last year, the import and export of Hubei Province achieved rapid growth in the first half of this year. It has achieved positive year-on-year growth in 9 quarters, and the scale has reached the best level in history for the same period. During the same period, the overall import and export growth rate and export growth rate of Hubei Province were 9 and 14.6 percentage points higher than the national average, ranking 9th and 12th in the country respectively.

The import and export of foreign trade between Hubei Province and its main trading partners has been developing steadily. The import and export of Hubei and the top four trading partners ASEAN, the European Union, the United States and Taiwan increased by 28.4%, 6%, 0.3% and 27.7% respectively. During the same period, imports and exports to Hong Kong, Latin America and Africa increased by 11.8%, 41.8% and 58% respectively. In addition, the total import and export of the other 14 RCEP member countries was 86.68 billion yuan, an increase of 16.3%; the total import and export of the countries along the “Belt and Road” was 79.84 billion yuan, an increase of 26.8%, and the growth rate was 8.4 percentage points higher than the overall.

It is worth noting that 14 of the 17 cities and prefectures in the province achieved growth in imports and exports. According to reports, Wuhan’s foreign trade import and export was 174.87 billion yuan, an increase of 13.6%, accounting for 60.1% of the province’s total import and export value in the same period, and it continued to maintain its leading position among cities and prefectures in the province. In terms of import and export value, 4 of the 17 cities and states have exceeded the 10 billion yuan mark. Among them, except for Wuhan, the import and export value of Huangshi exceeded the 20 billion yuan mark, and the import and export value of Yichang and Xiangyang both crossed the 10 billion yuan mark. From the perspective of import and export growth, Ezhou, Qianjiang, Jingmen and Shiyan have experienced rapid growth in import and export, increasing by 93.8%, 92.5%, 65.5% and 49.4% respectively.
