The Cidu, the Interministerial Committee for Human Rights, was awarded on 10 December on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. “Those who receive them, not only carry out small activities, but carry out a human and social revolution” said the promoter of the prize and special representative of the European Union for the Sahel. Emanuela del Re.

Among the associations chosen for the recognition, Green Cross, the Italian section of the international group founded by Gorbachev in 92 to defend the environment, and Scie di Passione, an association of ski instructors from Folgaria, in the province of Trento, specialized in training of people with disabilities, both children and adults.

Trails of passion was born in 2011, after a school trip to the mountains of a school group with some disabled children. Today it is a group of 25 specialized instructors, able to accompany anyone in Nordic skiing, cross-country skiing, or even in mountain walks, snowshoeing and cycling. “We have aids for the disabled, such as handbikes or tandems, but we are a school open to everyone, offering various types of activities all year round” explains the technical director Stefano Carbone.

“To do this job you need passion and the ability to adapt to the needs of students, who are really different from one person to another” continues Carbone. “We are very happy with the award. The most satisfying thing in our work is the relationship of trust that is created between student and teacher. When you drive a person who does not have sight, or who has to ski seated, that he trusts you. This off the track translates into a relationship of friendship. “

Trails of Passion remained closed last year due to the pandemic. “On the international day of people with disabilities, we are back on the track, always with the aim of making skiing and sport accessible to as many people as possible”, the instructors recently wrote on their Facebook page.

In the institutions category, the award also went to Oscad, the Observatory on Hate Crimes, and to the National Health System. To receive him the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza, who said, referring to vaccines: “Now is the time not only to donate, but to be alongside the most fragile countries to organize vaccination campaigns”.
