A specific path has been activated for pregnant women: from Monday remote consultations with gynecologists and obstetricians

BELLUNO. It’s called belonephobia, and it’s the fear of the needle. Many have it and the mass vaccination against Covid has brought out this deep-rooted fear, certainly linked to childhood memories on needles of very different sizes from the current ones. It is generally overcome by keeping your eyes closed, but there are also cases of real pathology to which the Ulss now responds with the “needle-free vaccination”.

It is a new device, which the company recently purchased, which does not include any type of needle. And how does it work? It generates a high-speed flow capable of administering the vaccine dose, always on the arm. After staff training, the first five people were vaccinated.

Those suffering from this disorder can request the administration of the vaccine with the new system, with the prescription of the family doctor or specialist, by sending an email to [email protected].

THE THIRD DOSE

The third dose also arrives in the territory of the Ulss 1. It begins next Monday, with particularly fragile people, those who have undergone transplantation or who are severely immunosuppressed. Interested persons will be called directly by the health company for an appointment.

The third dose should be taken at least 28 days after the second dose, regardless of the type of vaccine used. The Pfeizer and Moderna vaccines will be used.

The path to get to the third dose was organized in this way: the specialist departments that treat people with these diseases call them directly or through the Prevention Department to schedule the vaccination appointment. The vaccination will be performed in the hospital or in one of the vaccination centers in the Belluno area.

After this activity has been completed, the third dose (expected six months after the last) will be offered to other categories of frail people, such as guests and nursing home workers, the elderly, health workers.

VACCINE AND PREGNANCY

In recent weeks, there has been a lot of talk about vaccination for pregnant and breastfeeding women, a topic on which the attention of Ulss Dolomiti has now focused. “A path has been structured, designed to meet the needs of pregnant, lactating women or women planning a pregnancy,” they explain in a note from the Belluno healthcare company.

“From next Monday, gynecologists and midwives are available for personalized advice and to answer any woman’s doubts about vaccination”.

The risk of the consequences of the vaccine remains low, assure the Ulss, while on the other hand several published data show that pregnancy is associated with a threefold increase in the risk of admission to intensive care compared to non-pregnant women with Covid symptoms. Precisely for this reason, vaccination is recommended for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or who would like to become pregnant.

The path structured by the Ulss provides for telephone advice and vaccinations in the ward for women who come to the Belluno and Pieve di Cadore hospitals.

At the Feltre hospital, in addition to telephone consultations and vaccinations in the ward, there are also consultations in presence and group discussion in Gmeet. Times and numbers to call are published on the Ulss website.
