In Erbil the Iranian attacks continue in the silence of Baghdad – Zuhair al Jezairy

There is anger in Erbil, the capital of the autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq, due to the continuous Iranian bombing, carried out directly by the army or its allied militias in Tehran. At exactly 9:35 pm on June 8, another drone loaded with explosives hit a restaurant on the road between Erbil and Pirman. Three people were injured while sitting at the table and many cars in the parking lot were damaged.

The security council of the Kurdish region believes that the responsibility for the attack lies with the Hezbollah militia in Iraq, loyal to Iran. And he said that the terrorist attack adds to those already carried out with the aim of putting pressure on the Kurdish regional government. It’s the fifth in the past two months.

Iran has officially recognized its direct responsibility for only one of these incidents. The others are attributable to militants loyal to Tehran. An official Iranian news agency, Faris, said the attack was aimed at the US consulate in Erbil and would successfully hit three vehicles carrying an Israeli Mossad cell.

Anger rises in Erbil, because there is no response from the central government. A video appeared on social media of an Iraqi Kurd addressing a crowd angrily exalting former dictator Saddam Hussein: “If he were still in power, he would not leave this attack unsaved.” Prime Minister Mustafa al Kadhimi called Kurdistan Regional Government Premier Massoud Barzani to tell him that “Wednesday night’s drone attack on the city of Erbil reflects the determination of some to perpetuate the logic of chaos and to strike at the concept. of state “.
