Little remains of the Adventure Park, the green area dedicated to children located in Borgo Celano, a hamlet of San Marco in Lamis in the Foggiano area. A fire, which broke out in the early afternoon of Monday, June 14, and which then reactivated slightly at dawn on Tuesday 15, literally devoured the wooden pylons used by children for the paths and crossings between nature and large fence. A park that covers an area of 500 square meters and which is currently unusable.

It is still difficult to quantify the damage, although from initial estimates the amount would be around 250 thousand euros. The fire brigade speak of malicious flames. “We found more trigger points” – thunders the mayor of the municipality of Foggiano Michele Merla. “We are saddened by a gesture which, in fact, destroyed the hopes of the smallest in the country,” he adds.

On the morning of Tuesday 15 June, the technicians of the municipality, the men of the Civil Protection and the carabinieri returned to the site for a new inspection and to try to recover what remains of the structure which looks like a huge black spot made of soot and ash.

“We are faced with fools who have set the stake without thinking about the consequences and, among other things, risking blowing up even a methane gas cabin – continues Michele Merla. In addition to injury, even insult – he presses. We do not Surrend. We will go ahead and rebuild the Adventure Park in another area of the country, perhaps closer to the town so as to make it even more usable and accessible to all “.
