UDINE. Some companies would be ready to go in a week, but everything will depend on the supplies of the raw material which, in this specific case, are vaccines. The immunization campaign in the workplace, after the signing of national protocols and agreements between employers and trade unions, has already had an important participation in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

In fact, 151 large and small companies, out of about 7,500 throughout Italy, are ready to start the campaign. An additional weapon, therefore, to be able to beat Covid 19 in a short time, and to give a hand to the State which aims to achieve the so-called herd immunity by the summer, according to what the extraordinary commissioner, General Figliuolo, declared.

The audience of employees and collaborators (even the precarious can be vaccinated) in the region is tens of thousands of people. The main names of Friulian entrepreneurs have given the green light to the campaign. Virtually all the big names from the steel industry to precision mechanics, from food to furniture to construction. Among them are the Luci group, Danieli, Abs steelworks, Biofarma, Calligaris, Cgr, Fantoni, Ferriere Nord, Gesteco, Illiria, Icop, Maddalena, Pmp, Rizzani de Eccher, Snaidero and many others. «They answered the call – says the president of Confindustria Udine Anna Mareschi Danieli – even companies that are not registered in the confederal system. In general, at the central level, there were 7,392 manifestations of availability for a total of 9,757 company offices. In Friuli Venezia Giulia have joined 151 realities, of which 76% gravitates around Confindustria Udine, I believe it is a very important result that will bear fruit ».

Among the most important companies that have signed the protocol, there are the multinational household appliance Electrolux (which has about 2,000 employees), Friulintagli (another 2,000 employees) and Savio, the construction giant Cimolai, Roncadin (frozen pizzas ). In the province of Gorizia and in Trieste there is Fincantieri, whose Ad Giuseppe Bono from the beginning said he was in favor of the immunization of workers and employees in the workplace. «The national protocol that was signed the other day – explains the president of Confindustria Alto Adriatico Michelangelo Agrusti – follows what we had signed at the regional level a couple of weeks ago with the minister Gelmini. As an organization we have set up a call center with dedicated numbers to give all the necessary instructions to the various companies that will need information.
A date to start? We can also leave next week, but we have to understand when they will give us the vaccines. The inoculations will be available to all those who wish to do so, I imagine those who fall into fragility will do Pfizer or Moderna. We are very satisfied with the adhesions, about sixty in a day and a half, that’s fine. The administrations will be carried out by the company doctors and by the doctors of the Primary Care cooperative and by those of the Red Cross. There will be about sixty doctors from the coop, plus those from the company, a nice war machine is ready. We made 80,000 anti Covid swabs when there was a need, now we could do as many vaccines. Inside the companies there will be suitable spaces for vaccinations. For those who cannot guarantee them, we will set up hubs in the industrial consortia and we will also use tensile structures for small and very small companies, we will give all the necessary indications when necessary ».

The initiative was hailed by Minister Andrea Orlando as good news and one more opportunity to speed up a campaign that potentially affects 50 million Italians. «Employees and employers will be able to participate, as well as workers who in some way belong to the company, such as temporary workers. It will not be just employees in the strict sense, “he explained. On the departure times, however, Orlando also admitted the date is “linked to the arrival of the necessary doses”. In any case, it is another “very important” channel, alongside the traditional one: for companies “it will be an opportunity, activating it will mean seeing their employees vaccinated more quickly”.
«It’s a good page: the vaccination protocol and the update of the Covid 19 safety protocol will help us protect health in the workplace. This battle can only be won all together, ”commented the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza. According to the protocol, employers can, individually or in aggregate form, proceed with the inoculations even regardless of the number of workers employed, making use of the support or coordination of the trade associations.
