In Fvg without vaccine 87 thousand over 60, low adhesions among the youngest: many no-vax among the elderly

UDINE. Vaccinate the youngest, who are not responding en masse to the call for prophylaxis, and recover that portion of the older population, percentage-wise greater than the rest of Italy, which continues to refuse coverage.

These are the two objectives, difficult to achieve in the absence of vaccination obligations, that the Region has in front of it in recent weeks because if it is true that those over 40 years old – but above all from 50 upwards – record a number of bookings acceptable, it is equally true that in order to avoid the effect of the variations, and also to secure the autumn, Friuli Venezia Giulia needs to raise its coverage rate which, compared to the national average, still suffers a gap in membership around 10% of the total.

Current data

The numbers of the Region and the Government, updated on the afternoon of Sunday 27 June, explain that 1 million 12 thousand vaccinations were carried out in Friuli Venezia Giulia, between first and second doses, with a rate of use of the ampoules in the warehouse that exceeds 90. %.

Currently, therefore, 55% of the population – including under 12s – has received at least the first injection, while the recall has reached just under 30%.

Vaccinated with at least one dose reach 92% among the over 80s – with over 80% also receiving the second dose -, 80.8% among the 70-year-olds, 73.5% among the 60-year-olds and 49.3% of residents aged between 12 and 59, i.e. the last maxi-band that can be vaccinated according to the rules in force in Europe.

The major problems

Analyzing the data and the trend of vaccinations within the regional borders, it turns out that in our latitudes, where historically prophylaxis have a decidedly lower adhesion than in the rest of Italy, the problems are essentially two and diametrically linked to generations. opposed to each other in terms of age: elderly and young people.

If, in fact, 71% of those who are at least 40 years old – in a range between 60% of 40-year-olds and 90% of 90-year-olds – have booked their vaccination, at the same time 87,000 over 60s are missing.

Many and, in percentage, even too many compared to what the regional figure should be, that is, more or less 54 thousand out of the 2 million 700 thousand reported on a national scale by General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo if we calculate the classic 2% of the population of Friuli Venezia Giulia on Italian citizens.

What’s more, adhesion among teenagers does not exceed 43%, reaches 56% among 20-year-olds and falls back to just 51% among 30-year-olds.

Little, too little, especially if we take into consideration how young people are those who have more social contacts and who, potentially, can become infected more frequently, transmit the virus and facilitate the birth and spread of variants.

And a demonstration of this theory is given by the latest daily monitoring of the region which explain how the highest percentage of cases is found above all among those under 40 years of age, without forgetting that in the last week, a total of just 7,000 new bookings were registered. .

The day

In the meantime, as regards the pandemic, on Sunday in Friuli Venezia Giulia, out of a thousand 825 molecular swabs, seven new infections were detected with a positive percentage of 0.38%.

There were also a thousand 289 rapid antigenic tests carried out, from which a case was detected (0.08%).

Overall, therefore, we are talking about eight infections which compared to 3 thousand 114 swabs draw an average positivity rate of 0.25%.

On Sunday, then, no deaths were recorded. Furthermore, there are still no more people admitted to intensive care units, while 14 patients remain in other wards.

Finally, no positivity was recorded in the health system or in facilities for the elderly, while there were three cases upon returning from abroad (two from Croatia and one from Russia). –
