Yesterday’s brilliant result is the fruit of of the commitment that, in the last two weeks, has generated an extremely positive vaccination trend in all the island provinces.

This trend has not only been clearly above the regional target for a few days, but it is even higher than the national one, in percentage terms, with respect to the similar objective assigned. “The administrations to all categories undergoing immunization are increasing, thanks to the two solutions adopted in Sicily in the last 15 days: the start vaccinations for users entitled to without booking restrictions and the reorganization of access lines differentiated by type of user, with free access to people over 80. Indeed, the over 80 vaccinated people are in sharp increase: 68% received the first dose and 47% completed the cycle. President Musumeci also wrote to Figliuolo to immediately start vaccinations for under 60s to give greater impetus to the vaccination campaign. In the letter sent to the extraordinary commissioner for the Covid-19 emergency, the Sicilian governor also submitted to him the need to extend the administration of Vaxzevria (AstraZeneca) to the 50-59 age range. “The modest adhesion to the vaccination proposal with AstraZeneca by the target 60-69 years old – reads a note from the Presidency of the Sicilian Region – represents a case similar to that of exhaustion of the reference target which, according to the vaccination plan, legitimizes the transition to lower age groups “. The logistical and organizational potentials put in place by the Region allow us to take a step forward. “The organization of the vaccination hubs could well, in the case of opening to subjects under 60 – underlines the president Musumeci -, allocate a corridor reserved for subjects belonging to the targets allowed up to now even without the need for reservations and a different corridor through which to carry out vaccinations in favor of subjects aged in the classes currently not eligible “. The letter from the President of the Region mentions “first of all the agreement for vaccination in the factory, concluded by the President of the Council with the employers’ associations, the majority of whose employees are under 60 years old”, but also the agreements at the regional level with Confindustria and Confapi Sicilia, with the association of affiliated nursing homes or the one in progress with municipal pharmacies.
