In the park the boys make noise and then someone covers the benches with tar to keep them from sitting

CORDENONS. The appearance of the red and white ribbon and the barriers to delimit two benches in the Robinson park immediately created the debate on social networks among the Cordenonese who wondered what had happened in the green lung of the square the other night.

It was immediately revealed that the two benches, side by side, had been smeared with tarry material, with which the seats and backrests had been sprinkled. And from there the questions immediately started: who could have committed this vandalism? Maybe the kids who meet in the park every day? It seems to be not so. Far from it.

The municipal police investigations are still ongoing, but at first it seems more likely that someone put tar to prevent the boys from sitting on those benches. In fact, that is the meeting point for young people who spend their evenings in company, in a not always polite way, unleashing the irritation of the residents who overlook the park. In fact, it seems unlikely that it was the boys themselves who made the benches on which they sit impractical.

“The investigations are still in progress – said the mayor Andrea Delle Vedove – but it seems likely that someone has sprinkled the tar to prevent the boys from sitting in that point.” The first citizen tries to leverage the tolerance of adults towards young people. “It would be appropriate to be more tolerant towards children – the mayor urged -. There is a need for the boys to have a meeting point and meet, especially in a difficult period like this. We have all been young and we know how important socialization is. With this I do not justify rudeness and bad behavior, but I urge greater tolerance ».

With the approach of autumn and the reopening of schools, according to the mayor, the attendance of the park will be less and therefore the situation, in general, will settle down in a “natural” way.

“We hope that common sense prevails because barricading children against adults is not good for anyone – concluded the mayor -. For our part, the administration cannot prohibit the use of the park. The idea of closing the entrances at a certain time is not feasible. First of all, because it is a transit park between two residential and heavily inhabited areas for which it is essential to maintain the connection. Furthermore, the closure would cause considerable inconvenience for the residents ».

On Friday 27 August, in the morning, the benches were still smeared. The sticky material also fell on the grass leaving a strong smell of asphalt all around and also compromising the surrounding lawn. –
