International Rare Disease Day: JD Health Continues to Expand Service Ecosystem Covering 50% of Rare Disease Drugs

February 29 this year marked the 17th International Rare Disease Day, and JD Health, a leading new medical and health service company, has reaffirmed its commitment to serving the rare disease population. With a focus on screening, diagnosis, medication, nutrition, and public welfare needs of rare disease patients, JD Health has been actively providing care and support to those in need.

In terms of drug accessibility, JD Health now offers treatment solutions for 30 rare diseases listed in the National Health Commission’s rare disease catalog, covering almost 50% of domestically approved rare disease drugs. Since February 2021, JD Health has provided rare disease drug services to over 240,000 individuals, with this number steadily growing.

Beyond drug treatment, JD Health also offers specialized medical formulas that are crucial for managing rare diseases on a daily basis. As the most comprehensive online retail channel for special medical food products in China, JD Health provides 25 special medical food products for patients with rare diseases, addressing conditions such as phenylketonuria, propionic acidemia, and maple syrup urine disease, among others. In 2023, JD Health plans to offer personalized nutritional support programs to over 2,000 families with rare diseases.

Apart from these services, JD Health has also been actively engaged in public welfare initiatives. The “JD Health Rare Disease Care Fund” has amassed a donation amount exceeding 4.08 million yuan and supports 42 rare disease types listed in the country’s rare disease catalog, spanning 28 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions nationwide.

In a bid to further assist patients with rare diseases, JD Health launched the “Rare Disease Treatment Map” on International Rare Disease Day in 2023. This map serves as a valuable resource for patients seeking medical treatment, allowing them to access doctor information and rare disease details at the provincial level nationwide. The map streamlines the process of obtaining medical information for patients and their families, minimizing time and cost investments.

Moreover, JD Health has been forging partnerships with pharmaceutical companies to establish a rare disease prevention and treatment ecosystem. Collaborative projects with leading pharmaceutical companies like Takeda China and Teva Pharmaceuticals aim to enhance early screening, diagnosis, and medication access for patients with rare diseases.

With a focus on building a comprehensive and efficient medical and health ecosystem for rare disease patients, JD Health remains dedicated to driving progress and development in the field of rare diseases. By fostering innovative partnerships and continuous service improvement, JD Health strives to bring hope and support to more individuals in need.
