Free Clinics for Rare Diseases Offered by Famous Doctors and Public Hospitals on Alipay

In celebration of the 17th International Rare Disease Day on February 29, four renowned medical teams in the country and 11 public hospitals have launched free clinics on Alipay. This initiative aims to provide better access to diagnosis and treatment for patients with rare diseases.

Patients can easily make appointments for free one-on-one video consultations with authoritative experts, on-site consultations, and free genetic testing. This assistance is crucial in ensuring early diagnosis and treatment for individuals with rare diseases.

The World Health Organization defines rare diseases as those affecting 0.065% to 0.1% of the total population. In China, there are over 20 million rare disease patients, with more than 200,000 new cases reported annually. The “Famous Doctors’ Duty Room” public welfare project, in collaboration with People’s Daily Health Client and Alipay, has garnered support from leading medical professionals and public hospitals to offer free consultation services.

Patients seeking help for rare diseases can search for “Medical and Health” on Alipay and click on the “Caring for Rare Diseases” activity icon to book appointments. This free clinic activity will continue until March 9, providing much-needed support to those in need.

Aside from rare diseases, Alipay also offers free clinics with nationally authoritative experts in various specialties like otolaryngology, gastroenterology, stomatology, and dermatology and venereology. Through digital diagnosis and treatment capabilities, doctors and hospitals can deliver convenient and timely care to more patients.

The establishment of these free clinics on Alipay underscores the importance of leveraging technology to improve healthcare accessibility, particularly for individuals with rare diseases. This initiative not only bridges the gap in diagnosis and treatment but also provides hope and support to those battling rare conditions.
