160 thousand euros to be divided in half, now we are entering the planning phase in view of the rehabilitation works

IVREA. Agreement found between the Municipality of Ivrea and the private sector for the consolidation of the Lungodora in Corso Cavour, at the height of the promenade above the former wash house and former Giglio Tos printing house, which has been cordoned off for about a year since May 8, 2019. Eighty thousand euros each. This is the figure that made it possible to reach conciliation after months of detention and to pave the way for what will be the definitive consolidation project of a point compromised by infiltrations and neglect (moreover on a building at river level, old of a century). The former printing house is owned by Gtg sas di Romano, which put it up for sale in 2015. The building was abandoned more than thirty years ago; is bound by the Superintendency. The conditions in which it finds itself are evident, and not from today. “But everything is safe at the moment, there are no risks of collapse – assured the commissioner for public works Michele Cafarelli -. We had the entire structure shored up ».

In January 2020, a few days before Carnival, it was the municipal administration that anticipated the costs of making the sidewalk of Corso Cavour and the underlying building safe. In fact, the Municipality had ascertained, with technical inspections and monitoring above and below the pedestrian quay, that the deterioration of the structure generated a situation of danger of collapse of the sidewalk above the building. Returning to the figure: according to the technical advice prepared last April by the court and entrusted to the engineer Davide Enrione in an attempt to reconcile the parties, the responsibility for the degradation was to be attributed to 50% between the ownership of the property and the Municipality of Ivrea .

Degradation presumably due to rain infiltrations and excessive humidity in the upper part of the walls and ceiling. Which, going up to street level, affects 200 meters of pedestrian quay in the part of the Lungodora which is the continuation of Corso Nigra, passes over the railway and, after securing it, has returned to host the stalls.

During the approval of the three-year public works, the municipal administration had budgeted, for 2023, 424 thousand euros for the safety of the sidewalk of Corso Cavour and the building below. A preventive expense in the worst case scenario and in the event the technical advice that had given the Municipality total responsibility for the infiltrations. In reality, less money will be needed, in the order of 160 thousand euros, to be divided in half between the parties, assuming a structural safety intervention.
