Ivrea, here is the ethical hotel: a social enterprise against the limits of disability

by admin

Born in Asti in 2006 and taken off internationally, it is presented today. With the founder, Ciac, Icona and Aias: “This is how job opportunities are created”

IVREA. The ethical hotel project was born in Asti. It was the year 2006 and a group of people, gradually expanding, has created a system of interventions to accompany the work of disabled people in order to enhance their skills in favor of overall social growth. How? By transferring skills so that people with disabilities can use them for an insertion into the world of work and to achieve greater autonomy. The model of work in the restaurant and hotel sector has given excellent results. And today, Albergo etico is a non-profit organization with prestigious partners, 20 points open around the world and ongoing projects for other openings.

Elena Zambolin is the president of Aias: «When I learned about the ethical hotel project, I fell in love with it. And I said to myself: why not make it known here too? Why not imagine that this territory could be fertile for such an initiative? ».

Aias is an association with a strong history in Ivrea. Established in the city in the seventies, it allowed the birth of the Neuropsychiatry structure. Aias has always had a global vision of disability and focuses heavily on projects capable of promoting autonomy and integration. All the more so when it comes to adulthood, when the attention of services decreases and it is even more necessary to identify an instrument that allows autonomy and fullness of existence.

Moreover, Ivrea has characteristics that lend themselves well to welcoming the themes and objectives of an ethical hotel: it has a vocation for tourism, innovation and community. And ethical hotel, as an academy of independence, focuses on a community aware beyond solidarity because training and integration into the world of work do not disregard economic sustainability.

So Zambolin put some subjects around the same table to start a dialogue. And it promoted an event entitled “The courage to dream of a future” (sold out immediately) for today, at 1pm, on the terrace of the Ciac. There are Alex Toselli, founder of Albergo etico and president of the Download cooperative, Cristina Ghiringhello, director of Ciac, Alberto Zambolin of Icona. Ciac is a reality at the forefront of professional training and counts, in the catalog, the whole range of courses for tourism-hotel training. Icon is the company that took over the red brick factory and the Ico to put them at the center of an urban regeneration project dedicated to innovation, including social innovation. Today’s event is included in the program of The Great Invasion. In the Santa Marta room, at 11.30 am, Io sono, by Martina Biagi, will be screened, a documentary that tells the mosaic Trisomy and aims to bring the reality of rare patients closer to a wider audience. In Italy, there are eleven people with this disease.
