Involved artists Daniela Borla, Bruno Castagnone and Tony Muroni. The works will change at the beginning of each summer

IVREA. The difficulties that for a year and a half now have been afflicting commercial activities and, in particular, public establishments have failed to weaken the indomitable spirit of Ciro Lubrano Lavadera, owner of the wine shop Vino e dintorni-Osteria Anciuè, who, to the primary objective of safeguarding his work, he has never ceased to combine that, equally primary for him, of improving the context in which he operates and, by extension, his city. This is confirmed by his latest initiative, Aoa (Anciuè open art), inaugurated on Tuesday and aimed at making a contribution to the enhancement of the Caduti dei Lager square into which Via Pietro Luca extends.

“The idea – explains Ciro Lubrano – consisted in inviting three artist friends, in various ways linked to the wine bar-tavern, to each create a work inspired by a proposed theme, to be placed on the anonymous space of the wall above the outdoor area . The works will not be permanent, but, every year, at the beginning of the summer, they will be removed to allow the placement of works by other artists ». And he underlines: «Each time a different theme will be proposed around which the creativity of painters will develop. The theme proposed for this first experimental edition was “Wine and anchovies: a marriage of taste” to which the three artists provided as many interpretations translated into panels of excellent artistic quality ». The first three artist-friends involved were Daniela Borla, Bruno Castagnone and Tony Muroni.

Borla and Muroni are among the founders of the ArteinFuga Collective, a group of artists – who, beyond their personal artistic activity, have often engaged in operations to enhance and revitalize the streets of the center and have always been willing to offer their collaboration and his creative presence in major city events and on the occasion of events such as the Open Papyrus jazz festival of his friend Massimo Barbiero. «In the panel I painted – says Borla, aka Dabò – the urban landscape, one of the key themes of my pictorial production, is the background to a glass of wine in which a maritime landscape linked to anchovies is reflected. At the foot of the urban landscape, which could be a symbolic via Arduino, a crowd of anchovies flocks perplexed in front of the window of Ciro’s wine shop, wondering what some of their friends are doing, inside the restaurant, “lying” in a green sauce…”. Muroni’s unmistakable and colorful trait, on the other hand, has fixed on the panel an Anchovy Player, an original figure that is all a reference to the wine and anchovies of the theme, but also to the predilection for subjects related to jazz, of which the his artistic production. The work of Castagnone, an artist for pleasure (but far from amateur) of Aosta Valley origin and resident in Canavese, also very appreciated, known to friends of Vino and surroundings to illustrate, on the website of the wine shop, the writings of the Ciro tells section . His panel, depicting a modern Bacchus, meffectively displays his mastery of the technique and an extraordinary talent. The panels, as a whole, represent an artistic installation that gives credit not only to the authors, but also to those who had the brilliant idea of giving a precise lively and elegant identity to walls that really had little to tell. Today, thanks to the initiative, this anonymous facade has begun to tell a story that, hopefully, can continue in other similar corners of the city, composing a narrative capable of linking the spaces into a single, powerful choral story in art.
