Ivrea, the CPIA still without headquarters after the case of the former Valcalcino barracks, offices in a camp tent

The Municipality provides a hall in the town hall for entrance tests. The issue reaches the Council, the opposition: “Unjustified eviction”

The case of the former Valcalcino barracks will land in the city council, in the session of Tuesday 28th, the north building quickly evacuated on Monday 13th leaving ten associations and schools without headquarters. The opposition forces have presented a general interpellation (debate extended to all the councilors) in which they raise harsh criticism on the work of the municipal administration, asking for certain and rapid times to give a seat to those who have been evicted. Now the urgency concerns the Provincial Center for Adult Education (CPIA) which only on Thursday, two weeks late, was able to start the entrance tests, which are essential for evaluating students before placing them in the study paths. The Municipality has made the large hall on the top floor of the town hall available to the school until a definitive location is identified. On the other hand, the spaces for offices and lessons remain to be identified (540 enrolled last year).

At the moment, registrations are always carried out in via Dora Baltea, but inside a field tent lent to the CPIA by the Red Cross which has also made available a camper equipped for office. Negotiations are currently underway between the Municipality and the Opera Pia Moreno which could rent the premises once occupied by the Tecnologicamente museum (in via Siccardi). It is a question of the price, of course, but also of an involvement of the other Municipalities of the Eporediese. ā€œIt is no mystery, explains Deputy Mayor Elisabetta Piccoli – who out of 540 registered last year, only 220 were resident in Ivrea. As for the other associations, we are working to find the right balance, even though we know that it is not easy. The real estate assets of the Municipality that can be used are not infinite and finding spaces through a series of movements takes time Ā».

On the political level, the opposition pushes to speed up the timing of the new appraisal because the one that prompted the Municipality to evict the associations dates back to 2010 and was carried out on the southern building, the twin one, in order to house “the municipal offices subject to overcrowding “. “That appraisal – write the group leaders Maurizio Perinetti (Pd), Francesco Comotto (ViaviamoIvrea) and Massimo Fresc (M5s) – does not explicitly pose problems of static nature of the building and with regard to the false ceiling system states that” even if in good condition conservation, is not ideal from the point of view of safety “, a statement very different from expressing a potential danger”.

The opposition considers the decision to vacate the building in via Dora Baltea “at least hasty and not supported by certain and unambiguous elements”. “It is necessary to entrust in a short time the task for the preparation of an appraisal that can allow, in the positive case, to have everyone return to the formally assigned offices and at the time of signing the loans guaranteed as safe and usable – conclude Perinetti, Comotto and Fresc – We ask the mayor if it is not possible to find a sol solutionor temporary at least until the outcome of the aforementioned appraisal or verification “.
