“This scene is the first attempt at an approach between the protagonists: the Russian worker Ljoha and the Finnish student Laura”, says in the video Juho Kuosmanen, director of Compartment n. 6, currently in the room. “Both are barricaded in their social roles. But from her face we understand that she is not who she pretends to be ”.
The film, loosely based on the novel by Rosa Liksom just reprinted from Iperborea, tells the story of Laura leaving behind a disappointment in love, in Moscow, and embarking on a long train journey to an archaeological site in Murmansk , two hundred kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. While traveling, she will find herself sharing the compartment with Ljoha, a Russian miner different from her in ideas and character.
Juho Kuosmanen is a Finnish director and screenwriter. He directed The true story of Olli Mäki (2016).
