Presented by Radio Uno. Bonetti, a cultural change is needed

(ANSA) – ROME, NOVEMBER 22 – Enough with the “manel”: conferences, commissions, committees, debates, radio and television broadcasts where only men are invited to speak, where only one gender is represented. This is the message launched in the debate, organized on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, in which Rai Radio1, with the Representation of the European Commission in Italy, presented the Memorandum of Understanding “No Women No Panel – Without Women Non Se Parla “for an equal and balanced representation in communication activities.

There are many institutions involved, who joined and also contributed to the drafting of the document, a process of elaboration that lasted a year. Among these, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Equal Opportunities Department.

“We need a cultural change – said the Minister of Equal Opportunities Elena Bonetti during the press conference -. The unidirectionality of a communicative message that does not take into account the necessary dialogue between gender diversity is completely inadequate to face the challenges of complexity, which are faced in an approach capable of taking into account the double experience of humanity, which is male and female. Women and men – he continued – have skills that have the right to be expressed, I say this as a woman of science ” .

The director of Radio Uno and Gr Simona Sala recalled the battles on the subject carried out during her mandate.

“Let’s go forward – he stressed – so that this idea of openness is applied more and more, so that every time an event, a convention, a task force is organized, gender representation is taken into account”.
