To work more closely together. A senior Republican member of the U.S. Congress, Michael McCaul, issued a statement warning Kerry not to trust the words of a genocidal regime, not to sacrifice the value of the United States, and not to forget the bad record of the CCP’s failure to abide by its promises.

Kerry flew to China after completing his short visit in Tokyo on August 31, and is expected to meet with officials such as the CCP’s climate envoy Xie Zhenhua in the next two days.

The Chief Republican Member of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, Michael McCall, issued a statement on Tuesday (August 31) urging Kerry not to associate America’s energy needs with a “genocidal regime”.

“Earlier this year, the Special Envoy of Cree told our committee that China’s solar panel supply chain uses forced labor. The Biden administration’s own supply chain report details how the CCP uses unfair trade practices to control, including The key supply chain including renewable energy.” McCall said.

McCall also warned, “If actions to solve the climate problem cannot benefit (the CCP’s) forced labor, nor should we link our energy demand and supply chain with China (the CCP), the Cree envoy should not trust an implementation. What the genocide policy regime said. This regime has a history of ignoring international agreements. We must not sacrifice our value, nor forget the CCP’s record of non-compliance with its promises.”

The CCP’s failure to abide by its promises also aroused the attention of other U.S. lawmakers. Senator Rick Scott, Republican of Congress, warned in a tweet in April this year that “The CCP will never implement any climate agreement. These’negotiations’ make the United States look weak and damage other issues. Discussion of major interests, such as our national security and human rights issues.”

After taking office as the special envoy for climate change, Kerry visited Shanghai on April 15 to create an atmosphere of cooperation for President Biden to host the climate summit video conference a week later. After Kerry’s visit to China, the two countries rarely issued a joint statement expressing their commitment to mutual cooperation to resolve the climate crisis.

At the time, US media reported that US officials and analysts said that they should not expect the two countries to make rapid breakthroughs in their cooperative efforts to tackle climate change.
